STUDY DESCRIPTION:
This data collection provides detailed tabulations of
100-percent data items from the 1990 cENSU.S.
of Population and Housing.
These tabulations are presented for states and their subareas in hierarchical
sequence down to the the CENSU.S. tract or block numbering area (BNA)

Population items include age, race, sex, marital status, Hispanic
origin,
household type, and household relationship. Housing
items include
occupancy/vacancy status, tenure, units in structure, contract rent, meals

value by units
in structure, and tenure by number of non-relatives. The dataset
contains
both 'A' and 'B' records. 'A' records are provided for each summary

Public Use Microdata Samples (pums) contain records
representing 5% or 1% samples of the housing units in the U.S. and the
persons in them. Selected group quarters persons are also included.
The files
contains individual weights for each person and housing unit
which, when applied to the individual records, expand the sample to the
total population. These weights were included in the SPSS code that
was
used to make the system files, so the user does not need to do anything
else with weights. See the discussion of the file format below for
more
information.
Both the
5% and 1% samples have the same subject content and vary only
in geographic composition of the Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA).
